Diwaniyah: A security source announced that a 10-year prison sentence was issued against an officer and three other personnel for the rape of a female detainee in Diwaniyah Governorate. The source stated that “the Internal Security Forces Court issued a 10-year prison sentence, along with dismissal from service, against a captain and three other personnel, in connection with the rape of a female detainee at the Al-Nahda Women’s Prison in Diwaniyah.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the source added, “The sentence was issued based on Article 14 of the Internal Security Forces Law,” emphasizing that “these measures are part of holding those involved accountable and ensuring that no security personnel escape punishment in the event of serious violations.”

The officer and the three other personnel were detained on August 1st after sexually assaulting a female detainee at the Al-Nahda police station in Diwaniyah.
