Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi received the head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Clausia Boyer, and her accompanying delegation at his office on Monday. The National Security Advisory stated in a press release that al-Aboudi discussed with Boyer the continuation of bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the UNDP, and strengthening the partnership in the field of comprehensive development, particularly in Sinjar district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Aboudi emphasized that development ultimately leads to the consolidation of security and stability, which is a fundamental factor for the stability of nations and the well-being of their people. He noted that development and security complement each other and are integral parts of the priorities of the government program of Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s government. He expressed Iraq’s aspiration to establish peace in the region, which will also reflect positively on the cohesion of its diverse communities.

For her part, Boyer expressed the UNDP’s readiness to provide support and assistance to the development program adopted by the Iraqi government.
