Kirkuk: A battalion commander’s assistant and two soldiers were injured in an IED explosion south of Kirkuk. A security source announced today that the deputy commander of a regiment and two soldiers were wounded when an IED targeted a military convoy belonging to the 44th Brigade in the Wadi al-Shay area within the Daquq district, south of Kirkuk.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the force was heading to the area to conduct a sweep after eight airstrikes were carried out there yesterday. The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, as forces continue to engage in operations to secure and stabilize the area.
