Baghdad: The Diyala Police Command has announced the arrest of an individual suspected of committing murder and injuring another person following a family dispute northeast of Baquba. The incident occurred in the Khanaqin district and was reportedly linked to a forced marriage.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest was made less than an hour after the crime was committed. The police quickly implemented security measures and established a cordon to track down the suspect. The authorities managed to apprehend the individual and confiscate the weapon allegedly used in the crime.

The Diyala Police Command stated that the suspect has been detained under Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which pertains to murder. Legal proceedings are underway to refer the case to the judiciary for further action. The Police Command emphasized its commitment to swiftly addressing crimes and maintaining community safety by actively pursuing lawbreakers.
