According to National Iraqi News Agency, Paris Saint-Germain enters the match as the Champions League title holders for the 2025-2026 season and the current UEFA Super Cup champions. Aston Villa, the Europa League victors from the same season, seeks to secure another European title. This match is also notable as it marks the first time Austria hosts the UEFA Super Cup, and it is the inaugural major European club final in Salzburg.

Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, Paris Saint-Germain aims to maintain its dominance by clinching the UEFA Super Cup for a second consecutive year, having defeated Tottenham in the previous edition.
