Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain Finalize the Ferran Torres Deal

Barcelona: Spanish reports indicate that Barcelona striker Ferran Torres will join Paris Saint-Germain before the end of the week. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Spanish newspaper “Sport” reported a preliminary agreement between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona regarding Torres. The player who scored the winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final will transfer for a fixed fee of pound 50 million, plus pound 5 million in add-ons.

The newspaper confirmed that Torres will travel to Paris after arriving at Barcelona’s training ground to bid farewell to the players and staff. Barcelona rejected an initial offer of pound 40 million plus pound 10 million in variables, prompting Nasser Al-Khelaifi to submit an improved offer to finalize the deal. Luis Enrique played a key role in securing the transfer, as he wanted to bolster his attack without relying on a traditional center forward.

The Spanish coach contacted the player by phone, explaining his role in the team in detail to dispel any doubts he might have given the strong competition in the European champions’ attack. In a related context, Sport quoted French sources as saying that Torres will receive a contract comparable to those of Paris Saint-Germain stars, extending for five seasons.
