Baghdad: The Kurdish House of Culture and Publishing, in cooperation with the Iraqi Cultural Media Center, recently organized a dialogue seminar titled ‘Folktales in the Memory of Society: Kurdish-Arab Folklore as a Model of National Unity’ at its headquarters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the seminar explored the significance of folktales as an essential part of the collective memory of society, illustrating human and cultural values that showcase the richness and cultural diversity of Iraqi society. The discussions focused on the role of Arab and Kurdish folklore in fostering communication between different societal components and in promoting values like brotherhood, coexistence, and peace.

The seminar underscored the importance of preserving, documenting, and passing down folk heritage to future generations. This heritage acts as a living memory, safeguarding the history, traditions, and values of society, while also enhancing the sense of belonging and consolidating a unified national identity.
