Cairo: Egypt has underscored the importance of maintaining coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to put an end to military escalation. The Arab Republic of Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to work closely with GCC member states to address and mitigate regional tensions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release highlighting the discussions between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and the Secretary-General of the GCC. The talks focused on enhancing Egyptian-Gulf relations and joint efforts on regional developments and issues of mutual concern.

Abdel-Aty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the “fraternal relations” with GCC countries, noting significant progress in institutional relations since the signing of the Political Consultation Memorandum in February 2022. He indicated that both sides have agreed on a joint action plan for 2024-2028, emphasizing the need to capitalize on the achievements of the Egyptian-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum recently held in Cairo.
