Baghdad: The National Security Service announced on Wednesday the arrest of drug dealers and the seizure of two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Baghdad and Baquba.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, the Service said, “Based on intelligence information and after obtaining approval from the relevant judge in Baghdad, our detachments were able to apprehend a drug dealer at the Al-Laj checkpoint in Baghdad.” The statement added, “During the field investigation, the suspect confessed to hiding a quantity of narcotics inside his home. The tactical team immediately went to the location and seized 1.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.”

In a related development, the Service continued, “Following intelligence tracking of the movements of two suspects (a man and a woman), our detachments were able to apprehend them at the Al-Ghalibiya checkpoint in Baquba, catching them in the act with approximately half a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine in their possession.
