Baghdad: The Iraqi Veterinary Syndicate has made a clear statement that veterinary licenses are a personal professional and legal responsibility that cannot be sold, rented, or used by others. The syndicate emphasized that a veterinarian’s name should not be exploited to operate any project, institution, shop, or activity related to the profession.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the syndicate warned that any veterinarian who allows their name or license to be used by others, particularly those impersonating veterinarians or those not legally permitted to practice, will be considered complicit in the violation and will face professional, disciplinary, and legal repercussions.

The syndicate further announced plans to intensify oversight, auditing, and field monitoring to ensure that registered veterinarians are actually present on projects, institutions, and related entities. The syndicate will not recognize formal registration, nominal presence, or the use of a license merely to meet licensing requirements.

The syndicate’s announcement also highlighted that veterinarians lending their name and license to unauthorized individuals, allowing them to practice without supervision, not only harm themselves but also damage the profession. This practice empowers imposters and deprives law-abiding veterinarians of employment opportunities. The syndicate urged veterinarians to strictly adhere to professional and legal regulations to maintain the profession’s integrity, protect rights, and ensure public health.
