Baghdad: The United States is testing a low-cost cruise missile in Morocco. The United States conducted a test of a new missile in the Tan-Tan region of southern Morocco.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, reports stated that the secretive security startup Covenant conducted a live-fire test of the Anthem cruise missile at the new US Army test facility in Morocco, designed to accelerate the development of inexpensive munitions.

US Africa Command (AFRICOM) confirmed that US and Moroccan forces conducted the first live-fire test at the newly constructed military experimental facility in North Africa. A statement indicated that the test took place at the Africa Multi-Domain Training and Experimental Center (AMTEC) near the city of Tan-Tan in southern Morocco from August 3 to 7, 2026.

The statement added that this demonstration marked a milestone in US-Moroccan defense cooperation, expanding opportunities to assess emerging capabilities in realistic conditions while accelerating the delivery of new technologies to joint forces.
