Basra: Thousands of citizens in Basra Governorate flocked on foot from last night until dawn on Wednesday to the Imam Ali (peace be upon him) Mosque in the Zubair district, west of the governorate, to commemorate the death anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, mourning processions lined the route from Saad Square to the mosque in Zubair, offering food, drinks, and various services to those participating in the commemoration. Meanwhile, security and service agencies in the governorate implemented the organizational plan for the commemoration of the death anniversary of the Prophet of Mercy, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), aiming to secure the movement of pilgrims and provide support to the participating processions and organizations.

Basra Police Chief, Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad, oversaw the implementation of the plan on the ground, emphasizing the importance of providing a safe e
nvironment for pilgrims and participants, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, and monitoring the performance of security forces to enhance security and stability throughout the governorate.

For its part, the Basra Health Department deployed ambulances and medical personnel, along with health teams, along the road leading to the Imam Ali (peace be upon him) Mosque, in anticipation of any emergencies and to provide healthcare to visitors and participants.
