Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council confirmed on Thursday that its President, Judge Faiq Zaidan, discussed with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa ways to strengthen cooperation mechanisms between the judicial institutions of Iraq and Syria.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Council stated that Judge Faiq Zaidan met with President Ahmed al-Sharaa. During the meeting, they explored methods to bolster Iraqi-Syrian cooperation within the judicial and legal fields. This collaboration aims to develop and enhance the cooperation mechanisms between the judicial institutions of both countries.

The Council further noted that both parties exchanged expertise, which is expected to strengthen the frameworks of joint cooperation between Iraq and Syria. It is important to highlight that, under the Syrian Constitution, the President of Syria also leads the country’s Supreme Judicial Council.
