Interior Ministry Secures Newly Discovered Underground River and Blind Fish Site in Anbar

Anbar: The Ministry of Interior has announced the successful securing of a newly discovered site in Anbar province, which features a cave with an underground river and blind fish.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miqdad Miri, who leads the Ministry of Interior’s Media and Public Relations Department, revealed that the Haditha District Police Directorate, under the Anbar Provincial Police Command, has taken security measures at the natural discovery site in the Al-Khasfa area. This site includes a unique underground cave containing an underground river inhabited by blind freshwater fish.

Major General Miri stated that police forces have created a security cordon around the location, which was reached by environmental police last week. The objective of this measure is to ensure the safety of citizens and to protect the rare geological and biological environment of the cave. This precaution is in place pending the arrival of specialized teams of experts and researchers who will study and document this exceptional ecosystem.
