Sulaymaniyah: An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck the region of Sulaymaniyah, followed by several aftershocks.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization reported that seismic observatories recorded the earthquake at 1:28:30 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026. The epicenter was located approximately 35 km southwest of the center of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate and 26 km southeast of the Chamchamal District.

The organization confirmed that the tremor was felt by residents near the epicenter. In addition to the initial quake, several aftershocks were recorded in the area, causing concern among the local population.
