Baghdad: The Ministry of Education has officially announced that the project to renovate the outer fence of its main building, which was projected to cost 400 million dinars, has been stopped and was never put into action.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Education clarified on Friday that the renovation project had not been executed. Ministry spokesman Karim al-Sayed explained that the fence renovation was part of a series of proposed projects during the caretaker government’s tenure, initiated based on requests from relevant departments within the ministry.

Al-Sayed further elaborated that the current Minister of Education, Abdul Karim Abtan, after taking office, ordered a halt to these projects, including the fence renovation. He emphasized that no technical or contractual processes had been initiated regarding the project.

The ministry also highlighted the minister’s directive to safeguard the revenues of the Central Education Fund. Al-Sayed noted that the minister’s decision aligns with the established regulations to ensure the fund’s resources are effectively allocated to fulfill its educational objectives and support the education sector.
