Cairo: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has emphasized that strengthening cooperation between Turkey and Egypt plays a significant role in consolidating peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Fidan pointed out that both nations are large countries with responsibilities shaped by their historical and geographical contexts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan made these remarks in a post on the Turkish platform “In Social” following his recent visit to Egypt. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the development of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional developments. He noted that cooperation between Ankara and Cairo is progressing at an excellent level.

During the visit, Fidan co-chaired the second meeting of the joint planning group with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel-Aty. The discussions focused on various areas of cooperation and ways to elevate bilateral relations. Fidan also met with Egyptian officials, including Hassan Rashad, head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate, and Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, to address regional issues and developments of common interest.

Fidan revealed that Turkey and Egypt signed several agreements aimed at increasing bilateral trade, diversifying economic relations, and strengthening ties. These agreements are expected to support the expansion of the economic partnership and open new avenues for cooperation.

The Turkish Foreign Minister highlighted that the importance of relations between Ankara and Cairo transcends bilateral interests. The cooperation between the two countries is seen as a crucial factor in supporting regional peace and prosperity. Fidan reiterated that Turkey and Egypt will continue to work together under the vision of their respective presidents, enhancing cooperation across various fields based on mutual trust and shared interests.
