Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Amin Atroushi commemorated on Saturday the heinous crime and genocide committed by the ISIS terrorist organization against the Yazidi village of Kocho in Sinjar district on this day in 2014. Hundreds of men and boys were executed in a horrific manner, and women and children were abducted.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Atroushi, in a statement marking this painful anniversary, called for the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. He stressed the importance of reconstructing the region and ensuring the safe return of displaced persons to their homes. Atroushi also highlighted the necessity of providing justice for the survivors, completing the investigation into the fate of the abductees, and holding the perpetrators accountable under the law to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies and crimes against humanity.
