Basra: A shootout and subsequent chase culminated in the arrest of a drug dealer in the Shatt al-Arab district of Basra. A patrol from the Shatt al-Arab Emergency Police Station successfully apprehended a suspect accused of drug trafficking after a dramatic sequence of events.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command revealed in a press release that the suspect engaged officers by opening fire during the arrest attempt before fleeing the scene. Emergency patrols pursued the suspect through the district’s streets, ultimately apprehending him. Officers confiscated a pistol and narcotics found in his possession.

The statement further disclosed that legal procedures have been initiated against the suspect, and he has been referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
