Basra: A suspect was arrested in Al-Zubair, Basra, for breaking car windows and stealing their contents. Basra police have apprehended the individual in the Zubair district after a series of such incidents were reported in the area.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command issued a press release detailing the events leading to the suspect’s arrest. Following multiple reports of car windows being broken and their contents stolen, the Zubair police units launched an investigation. They gathered crucial information and reviewed surveillance camera footage to identify the suspect and track his movements.
The statement further explained that the police set up a well-planned ambush, which led to the suspect’s arrest while he was riding a cargo motorcycle. Authorities found a tool used for breaking car windows in his possession. When confronted with the evidence, the suspect confessed to committing several thefts. It was also disclosed that he had previously served a 16-year prison sentence for robbery and theft but had been released under a pardon.
