Baghdad: The Ministry of Transport is in talks with a European Union delegation to discuss the development of satellite communication services and smart applications. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for enhancing support and expanding joint cooperation in the transport sector.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of the Planning and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Transport, Dr. Abbas Omran Moussa, met with a European Union delegation led by Ali Al-Nasiri. The discussions focused on preparing a specialized study on satellite communication services. The meeting also explored opportunities for European private sector involvement in transport projects and the exchange of technical expertise to aid the development and implementation of activities and services within the ministry and its affiliated entities.
Moussa highlighted that the discussions also covered the use of modern applications and technologies in the transport sector. This includes fleet tracking, route management, monitoring of ports and border crossings, and service center oversight. Additionally, the talks addressed monitoring the infrastructure of railway and road networks to enhance performance efficiency and support the shift towards using smart technologies in the transport sector.
