Anbar: The governor of Anbar, Omar Mishaan Dabbous, announced the release of water into Lake Habbaniyah with the objective of revitalizing it and raising its water levels.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Anbar Governor’s Media Office issued a press release stating that the governor has initiated the release of 50 cubic meters per second of water into the lake. This measure aims to elevate the lake’s water levels, improve its environmental condition, and provide a crucial water source for the villages situated near its banks.
The press release highlighted that this decision was made following a phone conversation between Governor Dabbous and the Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi. During the call, they discussed the current state of Lake Habbaniyah, its water requirements, and the significance of supporting and maintaining the sustainability of its resources.
The statement further emphasized that the release of water marks a pivotal step in addressing the environmental issues of Lake Habbaniyah. It is expected to restore the lake’s vitality, enhance its utility, and provide support to the surrounding villages and regions.
