PM Al-Zaidi Leads Strategy Meeting Amid Strait of Hormuz Crisis


Baghdad: PM Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi chaired an expanded meeting of the Ministry of Oil, attended by key government officials including the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Oil, the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, and various undersecretaries and directors general.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the Ministry’s plans and strategies, particularly in response to the Strait of Hormuz crisis. The discussions centered on ensuring the smooth flow of Iraqi oil exports and increasing export capacity. The meeting also addressed the current state of the oil sector, highlighting the decline in export rates due to the regional crisis and the closure of the Strait.



Prime Minister Al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts to find practical solutions. He called for rehabilitating and developing oil pipelines and engaging with international companies to market and sell Iraqi oil. Al-Zaidi commended the Ministry of Oil for its efforts and instructed oil companies to operate continuously to maintain and boost production and export levels.



The Prime Minister also encouraged turning the crisis into an opportunity for success by developing oil infrastructure and expanding export outlets. He stressed the urgency of pursuing available solutions and opportunities to achieve swift and tangible results.
