Iraqi Finance Minister Highlights Economic Impact of Strait of Hormuz Closure


Baghdad: Finance Minister Faleh al-Sari confirmed that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has had negative repercussions on the Iraqi economy. A statement from the Ministry of Finance indicated that al-Sari received the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnasser Hemmati, on Monday, in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, they discussed economic and financial relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in a manner that serves the interests of both neighboring nations. The meeting also addressed the repercussions of the Strait of Hormuz closure and its negative impact on the Iraqi economy, particularly on oil exports and revenue flows.



For his part, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening economic and financial cooperation with Iraq and continuing joint efforts to support the stability and prosperity of the Iraqi economy.
