Karbala: The Karbala Anti-Crime Department announced the uncovering of the circumstances surrounding a robbery case in which a man claimed he was robbed of 25 million dinars after an armed altercation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a police statement indicated that after investigating officers began their procedures, collecting evidence and cross-referencing statements, it became clear that the claim was malicious and not based on any real facts. The informant had deliberately provided false information with the intention of misleading the authorities.

The statement added that the necessary judicial approvals were immediately obtained, and the man was arrested and legal procedures were initiated against him. He was then referred to the judiciary to receive his just punishment according to the law.
