Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities for Cultural Affairs, Fadhil Al-Badrani, chaired a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the program for the Baghdad International Book Fair, scheduled to take place from September 2-12.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Undersecretary’s office stated in a press release that the meeting was attended by the Head of the Publishers Union, Abdul Wahab Al-Radi, the Head of the Publications Review Committee, Mohammed Al-Lami, the Director General of the Children’s Culture House, Ismail Suleiman, and the Ministry’s spokesperson, Mudhar Al-Alousi.
The meeting, held at the Undersecretary’s office, addressed the fair’s cultural program, including seminars, other events, and the hosting of several prominent figures. Discussions also covered the themes of publications and publishing houses entering the Iraqi market.
Al-Badrani noted that the fair, held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zubaidi, includes a series of cultural events and activities, with the participation of more than 600 publishing houses from 23 countries, in addition to hosting ministers and specialists in cultural affairs.
