Karbala: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf affirmed today that the ties and relations between the Iraqi and Iranian peoples are deeply rooted in history, emphasizing their enduring brotherhood and friendship, even in challenging times. He underscored the importance of strengthening and developing economic cooperation between the two nations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghalibaf spoke in the holy city of Karbala during the fortieth day of mourning for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s martyrdom. He praised the Iraqi people’s historic gesture in organizing a significant funeral procession for the martyred leader, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for this show of fraternity.
Ghalibaf noted that despite efforts by adversaries to create division between Iran and Iraq, the result has been increased rapprochement and solidarity. He highlighted the longstanding brotherhood and friendship shared with the Iraqi people, particularly during difficult times and pivotal moments.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of leveraging these shared historical ties to enhance bilateral cooperation. He called for elevating economic relations between Baghdad and Tehran to benefit both countries, signaling a commitment to furthering mutual interests.
