Ankara: The Secretary General of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Eyp Kadir Inan, has stated that attempts to send a message to Turkey via Syria are delusions that surpass the political and strategic capabilities of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a post on the Turkish platform “In Social,” Inan responded to Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz’s remarks targeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He asserted that Israel must recognize that Turkey is not a nation to be lectured by Tel Aviv on regional alliances and decisions.
Inan emphasized that Israel no longer holds the authority to intimidate Turkey in the region. Instead, he pointed out that the current geopolitical dynamics require Israel to take Turkey’s determination very seriously. He criticized Netanyahu’s government for its perceived aggressive actions in Gaza and its disregard for the sovereignty of neighboring countries, warning against testing Turkey’s resolve.
The tensions were heightened following Israeli airstrikes on the runway of Abu al-Duhur military airport in Idlib province, northwestern Syria, early Tuesday morning, which resulted in significant damage to its infrastructure. In a televised address, Netanyahu reiterated allegations against Turkey, claiming that Israel would not tolerate a Turkish military presence in Syria, and framed the airstrikes as a message in this ongoing strategic conflict.
