Women Leaders Conference Aims to Boost Female Participation in Iraqi Leadership


Baghdad: An advisor to the Ministry of Culture participated in the “Women in the Three Presidencies” conference to discuss enhancing women’s presence in state leadership. Gulshan Kamal, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, was among the key figures at the conference titled “Women in the Three Presidencies: From Political Representation to Partnership in Leading the State.” The event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil in cooperation with Anana Media Agency.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conference also featured Hanaa Emmanuel, a representative of the Presidency of the Republic, and included members of Parliament, undersecretaries, directors general, academics, media professionals, and several prominent women leaders. The discussions focused on the current state of Iraqi women’s political participation and explored strategies to evolve it from mere political representation to active partnership in decision-making and leading state institutions. The participants emphasized the necessity of supporting women’s roles in positions of responsibility and strengthening their contributions as fundamental partners in nation-building.



Gulshan Kamal highlighted the importance of recognizing women as decision-makers and advocated for enhanced cooperation and genuine partnerships to enable women to occupy more leadership roles and influence public policy.



The conference concluded with a series of recommendations designed to augment women’s participation in political life and decision-making roles. These recommendations were submitted to the President of the Republic for review and potential implementation.
