Baquba: In a significant operation aimed at safeguarding public health, the Diyala Health Department has seized 16,000 units of medication that had not undergone laboratory testing. The seizure took place during a joint inspection campaign in Baquba, the provincial capital of Diyala Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Diyala Health Department revealed in a press release that the Inspection Department’s Private Health Institutions Inspection Division, working in conjunction with the National Security Directorate in Baquba, identified a vehicle carrying the untested medication. Some of these units failed laboratory testing, while others had not been examined at all. These medications were allegedly intended for distribution and sale in private pharmacies throughout the governorate.

The department underscored the risks associated with the distribution or sale of medications that do not conform to laboratory standards. The press release highlighted the potential dangers to public health, noting that the sale of such medications could lead to ineffective treatments, health complications, and pose a serious threat to patients’ lives.
