Over 2,500 Volunteers and 1,000 Processions Commemorate Imam Al-Askari’s Martyrdom

Samarra: More than 2,500 volunteers and 1,000 processions participated in the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Al-Askari (peace be upon him). Khader Abbas, the head of the Supreme Committee for the Million-Person Pilgrimage at the al-Askari Shrine, announced the substantial participation aimed at providing services to pilgrims and processions in the city of Samarra.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the service and medical plan was supported by 65 volunteer organizations, including 40 for men and 25 for women. These organizations, comprising over 2,500 participants, were strategically positioned around the holy shrine to offer logistical, organizational, and medical support to the influx of pilgrims. Their efforts were paramount in managing the movement and safety of those gathering for the commemoration.

The Secretary-General of the al-Askari Shrine, Nafie Jamil, previously engaged in discussions with Abdul Amir al-Shammari, Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Their dialogue focused on strengthening security and organizational strategies to ensure the success of the pilgrimage ceremonies and the commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary.

Samarra is experiencing a growing influx of pilgrims arriving from both within Iraq and internationally, underscoring the significance of this religious event and the extensive preparations undertaken to accommodate the visitors.
