Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Sunday that Iraq is determined to build the best foreign relations with its brothers and friends, emphasizing the importance the government places on cooperation and integration opportunities in economic fields.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement detailing a meeting between Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi and Taher Salem al-Baour, the envoy of the Libyan Government of National Unity, who is responsible for managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The meeting was attended by al-Baour’s accompanying delegation.

During the encounter, Prime Minister al-Zaidi received a letter from Abdul Hamid Mohammed al-Dabaiba, the head of the Libyan Government of National Unity. The letter underscored the importance of strengthening and enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and Libya. It also expressed anticipation for the convening of the third session of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee, highlighting the support it will offer to the levels of joint cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly nations.

The message from Libya also included an invitation for Prime Minister al-Zaidi to visit Libya at his earliest convenience. This invitation aims to support joint Arab action and calls for continued coordination and consultation to unify visions and positions in international forums regarding the challenges facing the Arab region.

The statement from the Media Office further noted that al-Zaidi reiterated Iraq’s determination to establish the best foreign relations with its brothers and friends. He emphasized the importance the government attaches to cooperation and economic integration opportunities, which are vital for strengthening capabilities, supporting sustainable development, and enhancing the foundations of positive partnership.
