English Premier League: Manchester City Snatch a Dramatic Victory


Baghdad: The first round of the English Premier League saw Manchester City secure a thrilling 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, while Brighton achieved a resounding 4-0 win against Aston Villa.



According to Iraqi News Agency, at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City overturned a deficit against Bournemouth to snatch a dramatic victory. Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring for the visitors in the 26th minute, before Marc Gu©hi equalised for City in the 84th minute.



In the second minute of stoppage time, Josko Gvardiol snatched the winning goal for Manchester City after it was awarded following a VAR review, securing the team’s first three points in the competition. Egyptian international Omar Marmoush remained on the bench for the match.



In another match, Brighton thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 at the Amex Stadium. Brighton took an early lead with an own goal by Victor Lindel¶f in the eighth minute, before Maxime De Kuiper added a second in the 18th minute.



Jack Hinchlwood extended the home side’s lead to 3-0 in the 30th minute and then scored his second and Brighton’s fourth just a minute later, securing a strong start to the season and their first three points, while Aston Villa remain pointless.
