Baghdad: Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, Director of Moral Guidance Media at the Ministry of Defense, has asserted the complete preparedness of national security forces as September 30th marks the final date for the withdrawal of international coalition forces. He emphasized that the forces are fully equipped to handle the country’s security and protect its borders.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Major General Al-Khafaji stated that the withdrawal follows a pre-determined timeline established by the Iraqi state in coordination with the international coalition. This decision is the result of meticulous planning, not a sudden move, underscoring Iraq’s sovereignty as highlighted by the Prime Minister, who regards this day as a significant milestone for the nation.

Al-Khafaji addressed concerns about the potential impact of the coalition’s withdrawal, affirming that the Iraqi army, along with the Ministries of Defense and Interior and other security forces, have consistently demonstrated their capacity to secure the nation and manage its security matters. He pointed out that these forces have successfully executed operations against terrorism and have developed an advanced intelligence system, proving their ability to manage national, religious, and international events.

Discussing future military collaborations, Al-Khafaji mentioned that Iraq’s relationship with the international coalition was primarily focused on combating ISIS. As Iraq moves forward, it retains the freedom to explore training, arming, and cooperative opportunities with any global partners. He emphasized that countries which supported Iraq will continue to aid in areas of armament and capacity building.

Al-Khafaji also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the military’s capabilities, noting that the security forces are trained to international standards with a focus on sovereignty-related sectors such as the Air Force, Army Aviation, and Air Defence. He reassured that Iraq’s security framework, comprising the army, Ministries of Defense and Interior, security leaderships, and the Popular Mobilization Forces, operates in seamless coordination to safeguard the nation.

He concluded by asserting Iraq’s stance against terrorism, ensuring the safety of its borders and citizens, and affirming that national security management is effectively handled by the country’s dedicated security forces.
