Baghdad: On the 105th anniversary of the founding of the modern Iraqi state, Chief Justice Faiq Zaidan affirmed on Sunday that the Iraqi judiciary will remain a bastion of justice and a guarantor of rights, based on a firm belief that the prestige of the state stems from respect for its constitution. Judge Zaidan stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We are mindful of our responsibility to safeguard a state that derives its strength from its constitution, its prestige from the rule of law, and its stability from an independent judiciary that protects rights and freedoms.”

According to Iraqi News Agency, Zaidan emphasized the importance of establishing a state of institutions by respecting constitutional jurisdictions and guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary. He stressed that subjecting everyone to the provisions of the law without exception is crucial to preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and strengthening confidence in its institutions.

Zaidan reiterated that the Iraqi judiciary will continue to be a fortress of justice and a guarantor of rights, maintaining a firm belief that the state’s prestige is derived from respecting its constitution. He highlighted that the strength of the state comes from the independence of its institutions, and stability is achieved by enforcing the law on everyone without discrimination.
