Lille: Lille began their French Ligue 1 campaign in the best possible way under their new Italian coach, Davide Ancelotti, with a 2-0 away victory over Angers on Sunday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ancelotti’s team owes its win to goals from veteran French striker Olivier Giroud, who turns 40 next month, and Portuguese midfielder Tiago Santos. Giroud opened the scoring in the 11th minute, showcasing his experience and skill, while Santos sealed the victory with a goal in the 31st minute.
In another match on the same day, Monaco secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Le Havre at the latter’s home ground, marking a successful start for both Lille and Monaco in the league.
