Al-Sadr Urges Celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s Birth Anniversary

Najaf: The leader of the Sadrist Movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, has issued a call for the commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through a central celebration at the Kufa Mosque and a visit to the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). This announcement coincides with the upcoming celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sadr conveyed his invitation through the X app, addressing his followers and the broader community. He emphasized the significance of the event by stating, “Peace be upon the Messenger of God, the Seal of the Prophets, and upon his pure and righteous family.” The invitation extends to all believers, encouraging them to attend the central gathering at the Great Kufa Mosque on the night of the 17th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. Furthermore, al-Sadr urged attendees to perform the pilgrimage to the shrine of the Commander of the Faithful, the successor of the Messenger of God.

Al-Sadr has also instructed those responsible for organizing the celebration to fulfill their duties diligently and to ensure all necessary precautions are in place. He reiterated that, in keeping with tradition, the gathering should remain free of political figures, thereby focusing solely on the spiritual and communal aspects of the celebration.
