Basra: An awareness workshop was held at the Iraqi Drilling Company to prevent the risks of high temperatures at work sites. The Iraqi Drilling Company/Second Operations Authority, in coordination with the Health, Safety, and Environment Department, organized the workshop titled “How to Deal with High Temperatures for Workers on Drilling Rigs” at the IDC-37 drilling rig site.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company’s media office stated in a press release that the workshop addressed important guidelines and instructions for preventing risks related to high temperatures. It provided mechanisms for maintaining worker safety while performing duties on drilling rigs and at work sites. Additionally, it defined the symptoms of heat stress, methods of prevention, and the procedures to follow when symptoms appear.

The workshop also included participation from the Women’s Affairs Unit of the Second Operations Authority. This initiative was part of supporting awareness programs and promoting a safe working environment for employees, particularly drilling rig crews working at field sites.

The workshop is part of the Iraqi Drilling Company’s efforts to establish a culture of occupational health and safety, enhance preventive awareness among its staff, and strengthen procedures for protecting workers at drilling and reclamation sites, particularly during the summer season with its high temperatures.
