Basra: An Iraqi traveler was intercepted at Basra Airport in an attempt to smuggle human medicines, as announced by the Border Ports Authority on Friday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra International Airport Ports Directorate successfully prevented the smuggling of a quantity of human medicines and packaging intended for various medical treatments. The items were discovered in the possession of the traveler within the arrivals hall of the airport.

The Authority detailed that the discovery was made following an inspection and verification process. This process revealed that the traveler had the medicines without obtaining the necessary official approvals from the Ministry of Health or providing medical reports to support their personal use.

A formal seizure report was subsequently prepared, and both the traveler and the seized materials were handed over to the airport police station to initiate the required legal actions against him.
