Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met with Dmitry Shugaev, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, to discuss military cooperation between the two countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Iraq and focused on exploring avenues for enhancing military relations. The Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement highlighting the discussion of prospects for military cooperation and the development of relations through the activation of agreements and memoranda of understanding to bolster the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces.

Al-Zaidi expressed Iraq’s appreciation for its bilateral relations with Russia, underlining the government’s dedication to expanding cooperation across various sectors, particularly due to the shared history binding the two nations. Dmitry Shugaev reiterated Russia’s commitment to fostering bilateral relations, emphasizing Moscow’s intent to maintain joint efforts in combating terrorism and enhancing security on both regional and international fronts.
