Baghdad: On Iraqi Lawyers’ Day, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, extended his congratulations to the Iraqi Bar Association. He emphasized the Parliament’s commitment to bolstering the role of lawyers and reinforcing the rule of law.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan highlighted the ongoing legislative efforts to advance the legal profession. He stated, “The Parliament continues to support legislation that will develop the profession and enhance the status of lawyers.” The first reading of the draft amendment to the Lawyers’ Law No. (173) of 1965 marks a pivotal step towards regulating the profession, ensuring lawyers’ rights, and fortifying their legal protections in their professional duties.

Faihan underscored the critical role of lawyers in combating corruption and protecting public resources. He emphasized that the establishment of a lawful state demands the collaboration of legislative, judicial, and legal entities.
