Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Nizar Amidi, has emphasized Iraq’s commitment to maintaining the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Libya. President Amidi expressed his support for a Libyan-led solution during a meeting with Taher Salem Al-Baour, the envoy of the Libyan Government of National Unity, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Presidential Media Office released a statement detailing the meeting, where President Amidi welcomed the Libyan delegation and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations. He underscored the potential for expanding cooperation between Iraq and Libya, particularly in economic sectors and addressing market economy transformations.

The President also conveyed his aspirations for the success of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee, which aims to enhance bilateral cooperation. He stressed that the current regional situation requires prioritizing dialogue and understanding, and adopting solutions that benefit the people. President Amidi reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to the Libyan solution, focusing on preserving Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while also supporting efforts to achieve stability in the region. He emphasized the respect for the will of the Libyan people and rejected interference in Libya’s internal affairs to ensure its security and stability.

The discussions also covered developments on the Arab and international scenes, highlighting the need for increased consultation and coordination between Iraq and Libya to address current challenges and support regional security and stability.

The Libyan envoy, Taher Salem Al-Baour, conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity and reiterated Libya’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Iraq, appreciating Iraq’s supportive stance.
