Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met with a German military commander to discuss preparations for the complete withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq. A statement from the Prime Minister’s office detailed the discussions, highlighting the focus on military and security cooperation between the two nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi welcomed Gnter Schneider, the commander of German forces deployed outside Germany, and his delegation to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations. The discussions aimed at strengthening military and security ties through joint programs, which are expected to boost the performance and efficiency of the Iraqi armed forces.

The meeting also addressed the critical topic of preparing for the full withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq. Al-Zaidi underscored the significance of developing multifaceted relations with coalition countries and commended Germany’s continuing support in combating terrorism in Iraq, especially during the fight against ISIS terrorist elements.
