Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate is actively addressing environmental violations at a concrete production plant located in the Al-Fahama area, which is part of the Baghdad Island Tourist Resort. The inspection aimed to verify whether the plant had addressed environmental violations previously identified in a warning notice and if it had met all regulatory requirements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inspection was conducted by a team from the Industrial Activities Monitoring Division, in coordination with the Planning Department of the Central Region’s Environmental Protection and Improvement Directorate. The focus was on evaluating the measures taken to address identified violations, including the absence of units for treating liquid waste and the need for measures to reduce air emissions.

Sadiq Al-Moussawi, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, emphasized the importance of rectifying these violations and fulfilling all environmental requirements. He also highlighted the necessity of obtaining necessary regulatory approvals. Al-Moussawi warned that non-compliance with environmental regulations and instructions would prompt legal action against the plant.
