Baghdad: Civil Defense teams extinguished a fire that broke out in a plastics factory northeast of Baghdad, with no injuries reported.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Civil Defense Directorate stated in a press release: “Civil Defense teams managed to extinguish and contain a large fire that broke out inside a commercial and industrial building used for storing plastic granules and manufacturing plastics, covering an area of approximately 800 square meters in the Bob al-Sham area northeast of Baghdad.”

The statement continued: “The operation involved 22 specialized firefighting teams and other support teams with their full crews. The teams acted with professionalism and a high level of responsiveness to control the fire, despite the intense gas emissions, in order to prevent its spread to neighboring factories and commercial warehouses.”

The statement concluded: “The cause of the incident was a technical malfunction in the factory’s electrical generator.”
