Iranian Parliament Speaker Accuses US of Misinformation on Oil Removal

Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf denied on Saturday that the United States had removed 130 million barrels of oil from the Strait of Hormuz in the last 14 days. Ghalibaf stated in a post, “The US Treasury Secretary is lying when he claims that 130 million barrels of oil were removed from the Strait of Hormuz in the last 14 days.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghalibaf added, “Reports from Moody’s prove that Washington has incurred war costs exceeding $130 billion.” The Iranian official’s comments came in response to statements made by the US Treasury Secretary, which have sparked controversy and disagreement from Iranian authorities. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global oil transportation, making any claims regarding oil movement through the strait significant for international markets and geopolitical tensions.
