Liverpool: Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday in the second round of the 2026-2027 Premier League season.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nottingham Forest took the lead in the 23rd minute through Dane N’Doye, who received a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White before firing a shot from inside the penalty area into the Liverpool net. The home side pressed for an equalizer, and Florian Wirtz found the net in the 33rd minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside, leaving Nottingham Forest with a 1-0 lead at halftime.
At the start of the second half, Liverpool intensified their pressure in search of a goal, which they found in the 60th minute through Alexander Isak. He capitalized on a low cross from Cody Gakpo inside the penalty area, firing it directly into the net. Nottingham Forest refused to give up and regained the lead in the 70th minute through Morgan Gibbs-White, who successfully converted a penalty to put his team back in front.
Liverpool equalized for the second time in the 83rd minute after Florian Wirtz delivered a brilliant pass to Victor Mu±oz inside the penalty area, who unleashed a powerful shot into the net. Liverpool tried to snatch a winning goal in the remaining minutes, but their efforts were unsuccessful, and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. This marked the Reds’ second consecutive draw in the competition, following their 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.
With this result, Liverpool moved up to tenth place with two points, while Nottingham Forest earned their first point of the season, placing them twelfth.
