Basra: Hundreds of contract employees of the Basra Education Directorate demonstrated on Saturday evening in front of the directorate building, demanding the payment of their overdue salaries and the resolution of outstanding financial dues.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the demonstrators called for fairness and the swift disbursement of salaries for approximately 10,000 contract workers, representing the remaining portion of the 38,000 contracts in Basra’s education system. They also demanded the payment of salaries for those contracted under the remaining 19,000 contracts.
The demonstrators emphasized that the continued delay in salary payments has caused them financial and living burdens. They urged the relevant authorities to take immediate action to resolve the issue and disburse their dues.
