Basra: The Basra Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspect in a murder case that took place in the Hindiyah district. The suspect was apprehended in Baghdad within 72 hours of the crime.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police media office issued a press release stating that the case received immediate and personal attention from Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad, the Basra Police Chief. He directed the formation of a specialized team tasked with following leads and pursuing the suspect, who had fled to Baghdad to evade justice.

The statement detailed that after investigations and technical efforts revealed the suspect’s location, the Basra Police Chief dispatched a specialized force from the Basra Criminal Investigation Department to Baghdad. The force successfully located and arrested the suspect inside a house in a record time of 72 hours from the time of the crime.

The suspect confessed to committing the murder due to personal disputes and disclosed the location of the murder weapon hidden in Basra. Subsequently, the force returned to Basra and seized the weapon used in the crime.

The Basra Police Command highlighted that personal follow-up on criminal cases, combined with investigative, technical, and technological efforts, are crucial in apprehending perpetrators, regardless of their attempts to change hiding places or leave the province.
