Baghdad:The Baghdad Environment Directorate has ordered the closure of three ready-mix concrete production plants located in the Al-Rustamiyah area (District 705) due to violations of environmental regulations and the lack of necessary official environmental permits. This decision was made during a joint inspection campaign focused on monitoring industrial activities and ensuring their adherence to existing environmental and health standards.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the inspection campaign was carried out under the directive of a committee established by Diwani Order (241285). This committee is responsible for overseeing activities that breach environmental guidelines and implementing decisions made by the Cabinet. The campaign was led by the Baghdad Operations Command and the Ministry of Environment, represented by the Department for the Protection and Improvement of the Environment (Central Region) and the Baghdad Environment Directorate. The Environmental Police Directorate (Al-Rusafa), the Za’franiyah Security Office, and the Federal Police unit tasked with territorial security also participated in the campaign.
Additionally, Sadiq al-Mousawi, Director of the Baghdad Environment Department, mentioned that the campaign included an environmental inspection of another ready-mix concrete production company. The inspection found that the company is still in the process of securing environmental approval. Al-Mousawi emphasized that the company’s owner has been notified of the requirement to complete the necessary formal procedures and obtain the required approvals to ensure compliance with current environmental regulations and guidelines.
